Hi I’m Leeann and I’m getting married in July 2010. I am also in the enviable position of working on the Scottish Wedding Shows at the SECC, Glasgow.
Since I got engaged to my fiancé Keith I have been looking at the shows with a different perspective and getting more and more exciting about my wedding.
I’m particularly excited about the show coming up on the 19th & 20th September. As I’m originally from Fort William, I’ve got my mum, Jean, bridesmaids, Pammy, Elaine and Joan and my sister in law Sharon with flower girl Sophie, coming down and we’re making a real weekend of it. I’ve got a list as long as my arm of things I want to buy and book at the show.
Keith and I have been saving like mad so I’m planning to blow this all at the show. I managed to find the dress of my dreams at the last show in February and am hoping to find the perfect tiara and jewellery as well as shoes to go with it. The girls are excited about looking for bridesmaid dresses as this is the first chance we’ve had to get together and look.
Keith is coming on the Sunday and wants some ideas for him and his best man Steve
Many of the companies seem to be doing special offers at the show, so I really want to take advantage of these.
Would love to hear from other brides, how is your planning going and are you sticking to the budget??
p.s Is anyone else struggling to lose weight??
Hey Leeann, Congratulations on your wedding. I’m getting married next august and can’t wait for the show. I’ve already booked my tickets. Not chosen a dress yet so I’m looking forward to the fashion show. I’ve been dieting for 6 months and have lost a stone but still have a bit to go before I’m happy! Have booked the venue but have loads still to do!

Congratulations!!! I’m not getting married until July 2011 but I have a massive ‘to do’ list and I want to get things up and running so that I can relax and enjoy the planning! I was at the wedding show 2 years ago with my future sister in law in preparation for her wedding – it was AMAZING! I went to a few others however I felt none of them really compared to the scale of the one at the SECC.
I have tried on several dresses, 3 of which I LOVE, however I’m holding out for the fashion show incase I see something better. As for the dresses I do like, I’m pleased to see on the website that the suppliers will all be at the show. My mum is coming too as are my best mates, so I will be able to get their input and hopefully order my dress on the day.
My fiance John will be coming on the Saturday. I thought I would have to drag him but his best man reccommended the show for groomswear and cars (When he mentioned cars I knew he wouldn’t need much persuading!) We also thought we could book our band on the day as the selection was great last time….another thing we can tick off the list.
Will definately be taking advantage of the special offers at the show – couldn’t believe the price increase for venues on an annual basis!!!!
Trying to stick to a budget – although it’s not easy! I’m not too worried tho as I have two years to save and pay off the balance of my debts!!!!!
